Hike and wine tasting

Sicily Active through this Hike and wine experience will take you for a relaxing four kilometres walking tour along the Alcantara valley secret trails and for a wine tasting to Castiglione di Sicilia listed as one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. Along this Alcantara Tour, we'll walk through the colourful Mediterranean countryside away from mass tourism to discover some beautiful, suggestive landscapes. In Castiglione, we will visit two churches, real architectonic and historical jewels, before enjoying a tasting of some excellent Mount Etna wines. To add a touch of unicity to this already excellent tour, the wine tasting will be served in a norman palace built in the x century, by the Norman King Roger the second.

Escursion Details

This four kilometers gentle hike begins in a picturesque stretch of the river Alcantara. Here we will move along the river's banks and through a suggestive trail that crosses the Sicilian countryside. The path will lead us to Castiglione di Sicilia enlisted as one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Once arrived in Castiglione, we will walk between small stone streets. We reach a viewer's point at the feet of a Norman castle and see how the locals live in a sleepy village away from the hectic city life. There will be time to visit some hidden cultural gems like the church of Saint Benedict and San Peter's Cathedral. The wine tasting will be paired with some food and served by a sommelier to better appreciate the complexity of Mount etna Red and white wines.
