Your guide meets you directly outside the Catania Cruise Port terminal according to your ship’s arrival time. The departure schedule is aligned with cruise docking hours to avoid delays or unnecessary waiting. After a short briefing, you will board a comfortable air-conditioned minivan reserved for your group and begin the drive toward Mount Etna’s northern slopes. The return time is pre-calculated based on ship departure, ensuring a safe and punctual arrival back at the port.

Mountain Chalet Coffee Stop

Upon arrival on Mount Etna’s northern slopes, a short stop is scheduled at a traditional mountain chalet near Piano Provenzana. This 20–30 minute break allows you to use facilities, enjoy a coffee, and prepare for the volcanic exploration ahead. Located at approximately 1,500 meters above sea level, the chalet area offers a first view of Etna’s landscape.

Lava Cave Exploration

Upon reaching Mount Etna, you will explore a volcanic lava tube formed by past eruptions. Equipped with helmets and torches, you will enter the tunnel while your guide explains how flowing lava created these underground structures. The cave visit lasts approximately 20–30 minutes and is suitable for most participants. This stop provides a geological introduction to Mount Etna without requiring strenuous activity, making it ideal for cruise passengers with limited time ashore.

60-Minute Walk on Mount Etna

After the cave visit, you will enjoy a guided walk of approximately 60 minutes on Etna’s northern slopes, near Piano Provenzana. The terrain consists of compact volcanic soil and lava formations created during the 2002 eruption. The route offers panoramic views stretching from the volcano toward the Ionian coastline. The walk is moderate and accessible, allowing you to experience the landscape without intense hiking or altitude challenges

Etna Winery Visit & Wine Tasting

The final stop takes you to a local Etna DOC winery located on the fertile volcanic slopes. Here you will taste five wines produced from indigenous grape varieties grown at elevations between 600 and 900 meters above sea level. The tasting is paired with a light lunch featuring local products such as cheese, olives and bread. The experience lasts approximately 90 minutes and is scheduled to ensure a timely return to Catania Cruise Port.
