Nebrodi National Park

Expanses of forests, rolling mountains, unpolluted air, lakes, ancient villages, deep valleys, peace and tranquillity, this is the Nebrodi National Park. The park is the largest of Sicily, the variety of wildlife is vast, the most common animals like wild cats, foxes, porcupines and hares are often visible. The Flora on the slopes, myrtle, cork trees and holms dominate, while higher up oaks and beech trees cover the peaks. The highest mountain, 1847 meters high, is the Monte Soro. The view from here is simply breath taking: the Etna with its plume of smoke to the southeast, the Aeolian Islands emerge from the Tyrrhenian to the north. The presence of numerous lakes adds some variety to the landscape.

Our trek starts from an altitude of 1300 meters, for the first 2 hours we'll travel along an uphill path that will forward in a forest of beech and oak trees, reaching the top of Mount Soru will stop for a break before starting the descent. The downhill path will lead us to a plateau on the shores of Lake Maulazzo where we will stop to eat something before moving towards Lake Biviere, our final goal.
