Etna mtb tour long trail

We'll start  to explore Mount Etna on a Mountain bike from the south side of the volcano at an altitude of 1950 mt. from Rifugio Sapienza.

Stage One: From Rifugio Sapienza, we'll start to cycle downhill for four km. on a paved road, until we'll reach Rifugio Ariel at an altitude of 1650 mt. from where we'll start an ascent with a positive gain of 330 meters in 10 km. on an off-road trail that runs through patches of forest and stretches of lava desert until the altitude of 1980 Mt.

Stage Two: By now we are at an altitude of 1980 Mt. around Mount Palestro, from here surrounded by a lunar landscape we'll gently descent to an altitude of 1500 Mt. in 12 km. stretch until Mount Spagnolo on the west part of the volcano. we'll cycle through the woodland of oaks. 

Stage Three: Get ready for some more uphill. In the next seven kilometers, we are going to climb 250Mt. to an altitude of 1750 Mt., We'll stop to visit a cave created by an ancient lava flow.

Stage four: The first six kilometers of this last stage are going to be through a beautiful bearch forest and downhill with a negative gain of 250 Mt., just the last kilometer will be uphill on a paved road until to reach a mountain cabin where we can rest, refresh and get a well-deserved drink.
