Escursion Details
Our Mount Etna trip set off from Taormina or Giardini Naxos around 8:30. Our guide will pick you up at your hotel. On the way to the volcano, we will drive along a panoramic road that winds through two mountain towns and beautiful landscapes. After one hour, we stop at a mountain chalet for a coffee break, to use the toilet, and change into trekking boots. The first stage of the tour will be along a lava field; here, the guide will explain the dynamics that ignite Mt etna eruption in October 2002. We soon start a relaxing hike, first through a picturesque birch forest and then to some UNESCO World Heritage craters overlooking a vast lava desert, large expanses of lush forest, and the glittering sea in the far distance. Before lunch, wearing a helmet and using a torch, we will explore one of Mount Etna's most famous caves. Lunch will be served in a beautiful Chalet immersed in the Pine forest. The return from Mount Etna to Taormina is scheduled for around three in the afternoon.

- Coffe break at the Ragabo Forest
After about 45 minutes of departure from Taormina, we will arrive at the Chalet, here we will take a short break for a coffee, our guide will show you the route and for those who do not have them, we will rent our hiking shoes for free.
- The Lava Flows of 2002
During this excursion, you will have the opportunity to discover the lava flows of 2002, a significant event in the history of Etna. This lateral eruption changed forever the morphology of Etna north side.
- Exploration of Volcanic Caves and Hiking on the Lateral Craters
Equipped with helmets and torches, you will enter a lava tunnel to discover the history and the geology of the volcano. The hike then continues on the lateral craters of Etna, away from the crowds, to offer you an exclusive experience. The hike will lead us to a panoramic point overlooking the mediterranean sea and the Sicilian mountai ranges a perfect place to take some photos and admiring the breathtaking views of the area.
- Lunch Break at Chalet Clan dei Ragazzi
At the end of the excursion, you will have a well-deserved lunch break at the Chalet. Enjoy a meal with typical Sicilian local products, to enjoy a lunch surrounded by nature. Two menus are available, one at €10 and a second at €15. There is availability for vegetarian menus.

Questions and Answers
How Shall I Dress For This Etna Tour?
Between November and May heavy clothing is Paramount. We recommend wearing winter trousers, waterproof shoes, a good sweater, a jacket, gloves, and a hat. Bring always a pair of extra wool socks in the rucksack just in case you will get your shoes wet, you do not want to freeze your feet.
From June until October you can opt for lighter clothing, but carry always a jacket and a pair of trekking boots. Lava rocks are sharp as razors.
