Hike and wine around Etna

Our Mount Etna Wine Tour is an unmissable experience for every food and wine lover visiting Sicily.
This full-day adventure combines a guided hike on Mount Etna, the visit of a lava cave, and an authentic Etna DOC wine tasting at a top winery on the volcano’s northern slope.

The area we explore offers stunning panoramic views over Taormina and the Mediterranean Sea.
Here, centuries-old Etna vineyards grow between the sea and lava fields, producing wines with an extraordinary mineral character.
The Etna red wines reveal complex aromas of wild berries, tobacco, and flowers, while the Etna white wines are crisp, fresh, and rich in volcanic minerality.

This Etna wine tasting tour is limited to small groups of up to eight participants, ensuring a relaxed and exclusive experience.

The price includes lunch, four premium Etna DOC wines, transport, professional guide, and trekking boots if needed.

The excursion's price includes lunch, four top-quality Etna wines, transport, a guide, and trekking boots when required.

Excursion Details

The Mount Etna Wine Tour starts at 9:00 AM, when your guide picks you up from your accommodation. After about 50 minutes, we stop at a cozy mountain chalet for a short coffee break before beginning the hike.

The trek follows ancient lava flows through pine and birch forests before reaching a series of UNESCO-listed craters.
From the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of Etna’s active craters, Taormina, and the Ionian coast—a perfect photo opportunity.

Before heading to the winery, you’ll explore a lava cave with helmets and torches, where your guide will explain Etna’s fascinating geological formations and the history of its eruptions.

WINE TASTING Experience

The next stop is a beautiful Etna winery surrounded by volcanic vineyards and overlooking the Alcantara Valley.
Here, you’ll relax in a peaceful rural atmosphere while enjoying a guided tasting of four Etna DOC wines—two reds, one white, and one rosé—paired with traditional Sicilian food.

The tasting menu includes:

  • A selection of local cheeses and olive oil preserves
  • A freshly made pasta dish featuring seasonal ingredients
  • A homemade ricotta dessert, following the ancient Sicilian tradition
  • This part of the tour lasts approximately two hours—a perfect way to discover the soul of Sicilian wine culture.

Questions and Answers

How shall I dress for this Tour?

Between November and May heavy clothing is Paramount. We recommend wearing winter trousers, waterproof shoes, a good sweater, a jacket, gloves, and a hat. Bring always a pair of extra wool socks in the rucksack just in case you will get your shoes wet, you do not want to freeze your feet.

From June until October you can opt for lighter clothing, but carry always a jacket and a pair of trekking boots. Lava rocks are sharp as razors.
