This full day tour between Mt. Etna and the Alcantara Gorges is the ideal solution to visit in a single day two of the most spectacular landscapes of Sicily east coast. Along the day leaded by a qualified guide you will hike to the top of a series of craters, you will descend into a lava cave, and after lunch you will visit the stunning Alcantara canyon plowed by the river. This Etna tour departing from Catania is the ideal solution for families or those excursionists who are not looking for a streneous walk but still want to reach easily some beautiful viewpoints. This tour lasts 9 hours, and the price includes the entrance to the Alcantara river park, trasport and a guide. You can book even through whatsapp. No advance payment. Escursion Details

The departure of this Etna Alcantara tour start at 8:00 , when a guide will pick you up from your hotel or from a meeting point. From Catania it will take one hour to reach the lava front of the large eruption of 2002, soon after we will begin a trekking of 4,5 km with whom we will reach a stunning view point overlooking the mediterranean sea and a large portion of Mount Etna. Before lunch will descend inside a cave where the guide will explain the geology and history of the volcano. The lunch break will last one hour, the menù includes pasta, a drink and a coffe. In the afternoon the guide will take you to the Alcantara Gorges where you will have time to enjoy the view of the canyon and if you wish you can go for a dip. The return to Catania is scheduled for five p.m.

How Should I Dress?

For this excursion to Etna and the Alcantara gorges we recommend dressing according to common sense, if you have high temperatures shorts and a t-shirt are also fine, but if the weather conditions could be cloudy or with temperatures below 25° we recommend long trousers and a sweater. ALWAYS BRING A JACKET OR JACKET. For the afternoon visit, bring shorts, a swimsuit and flip flops.

How difficult is this trekking?

The trekking of this Etna and Alcantara Gorges tour is accessible to everyone, the length is four kilometers and the positive difference in altitude is just 150 metres. Along the walk to reach the Sartorius Craters the guide will stop to explain and let you rest.
